Elevator Mechanic

ABOUT THE JOB
All-Ways Elevator, Inc. is a locally owned and operated, full-service elevator company specializing in commercial and residential installations, modernization, maintenance, and repairs. We are currently seeking an experienced Elevator Mechanic to join our growing team.

This role is ideal for a skilled technician who takes pride in high-quality workmanship and problem-solving. You’ll handle a wide range of repair work on hydraulic and traction elevators, wheelchair lifts, and dumbwaiters while serving as a key liaison between the field and management. WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Perform light to heavy repairs on:
  • Hydraulic and traction elevators
  • Wheelchair lifts and dumbwaiters
• Complete repairs including:
  • Pit ladders, zone locks, escape hatch switches, toe guards
  • Hoist and governor cables (replace/shorten)
  • Sheaves and machine work
  • Piston packings
  • Door repairs
  • Violation and Category 1 correction work
• Perform routine inspections and periodic testing
• Serve as liaison between building owners, job superintendents, supervisors, and office staff
• Maintain accurate jobsite documentation
• Prepare work lists for existing equipment
• Keep company vehicle clean and professional at all times

YOU SHOULD HAVE

• 3-5 years of experience as a repair mechanic
• Experience with hydraulic and traction elevators wheelchair lifts, and dumbwaiters
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• OSHA 10 certification
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics
• Working knowledge of:
  • Structural equipment
  • Controllers
  • Signals and fixtures
  • Door equipment
• Strong communication skills and technical vocabulary
• Complete personal set of hand tools
• QEI certifications (preferred)
• NYC DOB Elevator Inspector license (preferred)
